One More Thing….

I neglected to talk about our train experience today which fits well on the heading of not quite lost….

So after waiting over two ours for our train we descend to the platform and waited for our train. A train comes and stops… It says the right destination but it was about 8 minutes early…. We were torn do we get on the train… Is this the train we have tickets for??? Who really knows. Are Swiss so punctual that they get to the train stop 5=8 minutes ahead of schedule… again who among first time visiting Americans knows!!! A vigorous discussion ensued between Ila and myself is it or isn’t it…finally deciding that taking an early train was not as bad a a late train we jumped on…pulling our luggage along.. Well we guessed wrong.. It was the wrong train but in the end it went to the right spot 7 minutes early. We also think we did something wrong with the tickets as we never had our ticket scanned. Which may have been for the best anyway. (Above our seat was a notice of a fine for not scanning your ticket which got us kinda nervous.)

Sooooo we made it to the main Zurich train station and all we had to do was go from platform 4/5 to platform 6/7 no problem.. Once on the platform waiting for the next train suddenly a gentleman starts yelling they moved the train to Platform 5..Just where we had just come from… So we arrive back and there is another mystery train on the tracks. No sign saying Luzern. The sign by the door read Ferme which is French for closed… I found nice Swiss rail lady who was by the track and I think I managed to find the only Swiss person not fluent in English because her answer was all in German… No help… Luckily the digital sign by the door changed from Ferme to Luzern and we were able hop on board.

Our next dilemma was the ticket scan thing. We had both looked on the platform and on the train as we entered for a scanner with no luck. So we held our breath as the train started moving. Not long after a nice man came around to scan our tickets. Whew NO fine for us first timers…This whole experience should serve us well for our repeat performance on Thursday as we take the train to Basel.

So while we were worried we definitely were not quite lost!
